    Hi
I have replace the clutch slave cylinder on my wifes 2005 TT, its a FWD 150 bhp 5 speed manual so the slave was externally fitted - phew.
The reason for me fitting a new one is the clutch biting point was very low, just off the carpet ! I did bleed the system that improved the operation but only for a few weeks before returning to very low.
With the new slave fitted the clutch biting point was still very low but theres no feel/pressure when you press the clutch pedal for aprox the first 1/3 of travel, I have tried further bleeding and have even fitted a new master cylider with no change.
FYI the cars done 90,000 miles
Does anyone have any suggestions ?
    Regards Ian

With a new master and slave (of good make) fitted and bled correctly that only leaves a problem with the diaphragm but the clutch system used in a 02J box (EGZ code in this case) is very reliable, impressively so compared to the previous 020/02K.

Hi both slave and master cyliders are Borg and Beck, so quite good aftermarket, I also changed the tlny rubber seals at the end of the hard line for Genuine VW/Audi seals.

I am of the opion that its a trapped air/bleeding issue, initially I had to use an easybleed kit to get any kind of presssure, then a rubber bleed hose.

Is there any other bleeding tips out there ?

    Cheers Ian

We only pressure bleed, vacuum and pedal press bleeding is unreliable but we do use a type of pedal press technique with pressure bleeding when a car is being stubborn. With the pressure unit flowing, we build up as much pedal as we can by hand pumping and then open the nipple with the pedal held down and as it drops (hopefully) keep it down, close the nipple, lift the pedal and do it again; but this system isn’t usually traumatic like the 02M concentric system which can be a total PITA.

    Success

I removed the clutch slave cylnder from the gearbox and held the punger fully retracted and with the bleed nipple high, I re-bleed it, all rebuilt and a great pedal feel and clutch biting point.

    Thanks for advice
