A friend of mine has a 2014 Skoda Octavia with climate control, however it is not giving out any hot air. Expecting it to be the usual flap motor culprit I plugged in VCDS to read the codes and found nothing (well, actually I found eleventy million mostly related to it having had a flat battery over Christmas but none related to the climate control). Ran the flap motor recalibration routine, still no hot air and no fault codes. Now the really odd thing was that I then read some of the values, air from the vents was being shown as 5-6 degrees which seemed accurate, but the internal temperature was shown as 19.2 degrees which was far from the truth!

I'm now a bit puzzled. I'm not sure the internal temperature error is the problem as even when set to HI you still just get cold air just blown at you harder. It may be that the internal temperature value is not the temperature inside the car but something else entirely, or it may be a faulty sensor.

I haven't started disassebling the dash to get to the flap motors yet as I only ever see the car in the dark so I don't want to start down that road unless I know it is the fault, but at the moment that seems the next move. Not sure how hard it is to do this as most of my experience is/was with a 2003 Audi A4 and I imagine a different brand and 11 years will mean the fixings are not where I expect them to be.....

So grateful for any advice as to further diagnostics before I proceed.......

Blocked heater matrix, now a standard MQB platform issue every winter. No you can’t flush them, they have to be replaced.

Thanks Crasher, sounds like a fun couple of hours ahead to sort that..... I'll have a fumble around the pipework to check the pipe temperature. Was so sure it was going to be flap motors it never occurred to me to check there was some heat there for it to distribute!
