18" S-Line wheels

I've had my 06 B7 cab for a good couple of months now and am overall very pleased with it.

the big issue I have at the moment however is the rubbing of the wheels when turning with full lock. it used to only happened when I did U-turns but now seems to happen all the time, even when parallel parking for example. it fells as though the actual rim is almost scraping the floor. I have factory fitted 18" S-line 5 spoke wheels with original Michelin tyres.
could it be something simple like my tyres are under inflated? or perhaps they need changing. the tread is quite worn and although still legal I have been advised to change in the next few thousand miles, at the last service. I've never had big wheels on a car before so is this something im just going to have to accept? my friends BMW E46 with factory fit 18's doesn't seem to have the same problem.
