    Hi Everyone,

I'm in the process of buying a 2018 VW Touran 1.6 TDi SE Family where both drivers and dash airbags have been deployed. I have the OEM numbers for these airbags so sourcing them should not be a problem, and a locked OSF seat belt.

I wanted to know for example, is it easy dealing with clearing crash the data- what does this involve and is it expensive?

Also, is there anything else that I have not considered here yet that I will need to deal with given these repairs?

    THANK YOU

    Chico

Clearing crash data: Clearing crash data typically involves resetting the airbag control module (ACM) or replacing it if necessary. The ACM is responsible for storing crash data and triggering the airbags during an accident. Clearing the crash data ensures that the system is reset and ready to function properly. The cost of clearing crash data can vary depending on the specific repair shop or dealership you choose, but it is generally not too expensive.

Other considerations: While you have addressed the airbags and seat belt, there are a few additional things you may want to consider:

    a. Inspection: It's crucial to have a thorough inspection of the vehicle performed by a qualified mechanic or technician. They can assess the extent of the damage and identify any other potential issues that may have resulted from the deployed airbags.

    b. Repairs: In addition to the airbags and seat belt, you should also check if any other components in the vehicle's safety system have been affected. This may include sensors, wiring, or other parts related to the airbag system. Ensure that all necessary repairs are carried out properly.

    c. Insurance: If you plan to insure the vehicle, you may want to contact your insurance provider to check if they have any specific requirements or procedures for insuring a vehicle that has had deployed airbags.

    d. Documentation: Keep records of the repairs, including receipts and any paperwork related to the airbag replacement, seat belt repair, and crash data clearing. This documentation may be useful in the future when selling the vehicle or for insurance purposes.
