Just spent a bit of time retrofitting bits on my 2006 3.2 quattro - , the usual suspects - power folding dimming mirrors, sat nav, DAB, HVAC control, front and rear parking sensors.
Finally got around to the backup camera, installed new MMI control (FBAS input) new gateway - camera control unit, the only problem is that when I hit reverse the MMI screen changes as if to show video but there is nothing there - blank.
If I bypass the camera control unit with the video ( made a bodge lead to connect the green and grey FAKRA connectors together) then I get the camera video appearing on the MMI screen when I hit reverse - this proves that the camera and the MMI are working - there are no fault codes showing (except camera not calibrated) in VCDS and it does tell me in the measuring blocks that the MMI is receiving sync from the camera - there is just no picture.
I did think at this point that it was the output of the camera control unit.......so I got another one - and I get the same result! - All the coding is correct ( as far as I am aware!!!!!)

anybody retrofitted this camera and had similar problems?

Check the control head unit fault codes as Component protection might be in place.

No faults showing in control head - CP was removed when the unit was changed.
The only fault showing on the car is 'Camera not calibrated'

I know this is very unlikely, but it IS possible - I maybe have 2 faulty camera control units!

Post up the coding of the camera unit and the control head.

Did you set the hidden menu settings up also?

Can't post a scan up as I'm not with the car -

However, from my notes I can say this -

Can Gateway - 6C (camera) added to install list
Coding for camera control module - 1020005
    Control head (07) adaptation Ch1 +38158
Comfort module (46) +2 (rear view camera installed)

    Whats the hidden menu setting?

Ah you mean the hidden green menu - I was thinking there was a hidden menu in VCDS!!!!!

I added 32768 earlier to module 07 adaptation ch1 which gave me 38158.

I'm back with the car tomorrow so going to uninstall everything, return all coding back to pre camera install and try again
