Hi, just joined from Australia. Moved over from the UK in 2006 and back working on old VWs again. Had lots back in the UK before I left.

Struggling to find a diagram to help me fix the airbag light on a VR6 1994 vintage WVWZZZ1HZRW618648 is the VIN. This one has a MK3 airbag controller with 20 pins. Not the 30 pin one that all the other diagrams I find show, I think that controller start with 6N0 being from a polo. The Bentley has been no help and I wasted money on Erwin too.

    Any ideas?

VCDS cant find the controller and one thing I am reading is that the controller is likely unpowered if the light doesn't go off.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

    Gavin

It is only available digitally for September 94 onwards production, yours was built 31.05.1994. and the Bentley manual is wrong. If you find you need a new controller they are available from Classic but daft money, but at least they are available which is more than can be said for Mk4 and Mk20 right hand drive ABS units and Mk4 ABS pre 95 master cylinders, these are impossible to find new.

The Golf 1 cabrio for 93 used a 20 pin ECU, the diagram is in the Bentley manual and MAY be similar to the early Golf 3 such as ignition live to pin 18 and earth to pin 10
