Is there a gear stick bushing repair kit for mk5 golf like the DieselGate kit for the mk4?

Or is there a VW dealer kit available?

And are these comprehensive kits replacing all bushes or just some of them.

I'm randomly but more often now finding it hard to get 1st gear. When it happens I usually manage it by siding into 2nd and then straight back up to 1st. Sometimes, when I get thick with it and try force it a bit it slots into reverse.

I have some play / slop in the gear stick, I'd like to get a kit and repair this slop. Also, I plan to check the linkages bushings out on top of the gear box too in case there's wear issues there too.

There is no kit by VW and the floor box plus cables are very reliable, about the only common problem is the relay lever 5Q0 711 202 B, item 47 £46.20

Where it (1) goes through the box turret effectively 48 in the parts diagram which aren’t used here, it corrodes and seizes so the pivot action becomes the flex of the plastic which eventually succumbs to fatigue and fails.

I took the air box out tonight and had a proper look. Crasher, in your 1st parts diagram I think my problem is with the unit which is the un-numbered unit at the bottom most left of your diagram and has the nut part no.50 in your diagram. Well, the curvy piece of that unit has a white plastic "bush" with some grease around where it slides along that curvy metal piece.

That plastic bushing seems to be very worn on mine. My last pic with the 2 red arrows shows the gap around the bush and ball joint end when I push it fully into the ball joint.

The 1st + 2nd 2 pics show the amount of room there is within the range of travel the bush has from pushing it closest towards the ball joint and then pulling it out away from the ball joint. Should it have this much travel do you reckon? I think it's goosed.

Do you know if this bush can be bought separately? Would you have a part no.?
Also, is this piece associated with 1st gear? I was on my own so couldn't check which part was moving when the gear stick is moved in and out of 1st.

Cheers for the help, and diagrams

51... They call that the "sliding shoe" 6Q0 711 550 £8.21 and it now comes with the revised design lever.

Thanks Crasher, I ordered parts 51 + 47 off the dealer.

I didn't realise part 51 and 47 assembled together in the above diagram. Hopefully this should fix my issue.

I tried setting the alignment again and couldn’t get it any better.

So I dropped into a gear box repair place beside my work and he found he could get it to go into 1st when pressing down a bit first as if going for reverse. He said I might have some wear on the gear stick bushes. He got 1 of his workers to adjust the cable whilst he was holding the gear stick. The other chap basically adjusted the cable by moving it 2 or 3 threads on the adjuster. I had wondered if it mattered where the adjuster ended up on the threaded rod, I just let it find its own spot.

    It’s fine now, thank god!
I wonder if I should look into renewing some of the bushes / parts around the gear stick, I don’t mind changing them as keeping the car long term and it has big miles now.
