Hi, we've recently purchased a B6 estatethat has the RCD300 radio. I'd like to upgrade it a bit to something that has Bluetooth but want it to be a stock VW radio. Can anyone suggest an upgrade that is stock and won't have me having to use vcds to code it

For most of that radio family (RCDxxx, RNSxxx) that fit the car the Bluetooth providing telephone and music streaming is via an external module. I fitted one to our RNS510 and RSN310 cars, which have the telephone control in the radio. You can also fit it to the RCD300, but unless you have control via the steering wheel, etc then you still have to use phone screen. Once the Bluetooth module is fitted you have to use VCDS or similar to tell the car it is there. Finally, you may need to change CAN bus controller to allow communication and / or prevent battery drain.

Having said that I think there is one model that has Bluetooth build directly into the radio - I'll try and track down which...

RNS315 may have built in BT: RNS315 and Bluetooth | VW T4 Forum - VW T5 Forum

Look for MAC address on label and hopefully it'll work. Like last pic here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275416944732 (no promises obvs!).

The bit about changing CAN bus may still be valid.

    That's brilliant, thank you.
I'll keep a look out on eBay for a bargain.

I did see the Bluetooth adapter that fits into the cd changer port on the RCD 300 but I really don't want to mess with the wiring if I can help it
