If anyone can help it would be really appreciated.

Trying to source GKN/Lobro 304844 but not having much luck after trawling the internet for hours. I'm looking for a UK supplier if possible, rather than the supplier from outside UK that has several website names and has awful reviews (slow delivery, incorrect parts etc...)

Also looked at SKF 4893 but same problem. Also, don't understand why SKF are 20mm shorter?? Both of these products are listed on their websites as replacement for OEM 4B0 407 271 BB (stamped on my existing driveshafts).

    I don't want to buy cheaper driveshafts for this car, I don't think they'll last (it's a 2.5 diesel).

    Regards

Spec page at SKF says it matches:

    • 4B0 407 272 AP
    • 4B0 407 272 F
    • 4B0 407 452 EX
    • 4B0 407 452 GX

Which are for the 5-speed automatic 'box, while the BB suffix is for the continuously variable one - which is probably why there is a length difference.

    Thanks for responding, appreciated.
    Yes, you're right, I've just double-checked.
Just doing another search on SKF for my OE number - it's still searching, very slow for some reason.

I was going to replace the whole driveshaft to make it easier but may have to just replace the inner CV if that's all I can get.

    Thanks

I couldn't see an SKF part. Website span for me in places as well - flakey overall.

EDIT: Have you checked dealer price? They can be unexpectedly reasonable once you're looking at good quality alternatives, and value timely delivery of the correct item.

They may offer you the RX suffix part, which is the factory rebuilt item.

What is the VIN? The LÖBRO 304844 is equivalent to VAG,

    4B0407271AS
    4B0407271BB
    4B0407451PX
    4B3407271G
    4B3407271J
    4B3407451AX

    4B0 407 272 P is right hand for a 5 speed auto

    Thanks Vag-abound and Crasher.
UPDATE - managed to get a factory rebuilt one to replace my 4B0407271BB from Midland Car Spares. It is the Lobro 304844 as pictured by Crasher.
Fitted today, the bolts on the internal cv were very tricky, but eventually got them out.
My current dilemma is the torque for the hex M16 bolt - the workshop manual states 190 Nm and turn 180 degrees further. I've torqued to 190 Nm but only managed to turn another 40 degrees but the breaker bar looked like it was going to snap.
I'm wondering whether to buy a heavy duty breaker bar and turn another 140 degrees, but I also wouldn't want to risk snapping off the bolt, it just feels ridiculously tight.
    Any thoughts?

Yes, that's for the connection to the gearbox which I've torqued to 70Nm as the manual states.
The outstanding concern is the Hex M16 bolt that holds the driveshaft outer end to the hub.
I'm questioning the 180 degrees extra turn (after 190Nm) as it feels like something will snap.
