I've become aware that the AC doesn't feel as cold as it use too so I assume it likely needs re-gassing (car is still under warranty)
As of late there is also an unpleasant odour when I run the AC which is worse when the AC hasn't been run for a while
Any one else experienced such an odour in this circumstance, or indeed otherwise?
Could it be that the pollen filters need replacing?

Sounds like it needs an antibacterial clean. You can buy a canister of the stuff from Amazon, Halfords also sells it. Best way to avoid a build up of bacteria in the system is to leave the AC always on. Sounds like you may also need a regas, think Audi dealers do the antibacterial clean as part of that process. They recommend and AC service/regas every 2 years, although I have had no issues with coldness after more than 3 years without a service. If you only occasionally use the AC then the seals dry out and that leads to the gas escaping. Again that problem is reduced through regular running of the AC
