Hi all, bought my service kit today from TPS, it has a plastic sump plug. I have ordered a tool for this, but can I remove the old one with a normal flat blade screwdriver, or wait for my tool to be delivered. Seems very odd having a plastic sump plug, but that’s modern for you. Also spark plugs look different to what I normally see.....I assume these are easy to change, I.e no special tools needed to remove the coil packs etc. Cheers, Rhen.

I waited for the proper tool, no point taking risks with something as critical as a sump plug. It seems it goes into the plastic sump and turns approx 90 degrees clockwise until it stops. A small grow out on the plug sort of clicks into a small notch on the sump, very simple and effective and eliminates over tightening it. Think the small tool was Laser and cost about £12. Oh forgot to add, to remove, just simply turn CCW until it comes out, there may be a small amount of resistance to start as the peg on the plug comes out of the notch in the sump pan. Tool pushes into the plug by 10mm or so and a 1/4 hex on end.

One of those tools that will be used regularly once you have it. A nice to have for some, but very nice to have for others .
