    Hi all,
Hopefully someone can help me with an issue I'm having with my 2005 vw golf 1.4 fsi.
Drove it on school run and dropped kids off, when I came out it started but after a few seconds it died. Checked fuel pump and turns out it weren't working so put in another known working one but still won't start. Checked all fuses and all good, swapped relays fuel pump and horn to confirm relay still working and it was. Changed crankshaft sensor as had fault code and now code has gone but still won't start.
Now I have no codes and no idea why it's not starting
Thanks in advance for any help

If it is high mileage, the cam chain may have jumped.

    Hi crasher,
Is there any way of checking without stripping it down?

Mileage is 112000 so not as high as most but certainly possible as I have no service history for it so not sure if it was regularly serviced or not

I have had many jump much earlier than 112K. You have to set the number 1 piston at TDC and see if the cam plate will go in.

Cheers I will get it checked, is there anything else you could think of that it may be if not that? Read a lot of forums recently and been seeing other issues like fuse box, coolant temp sensor, ecu

IF there are definitely no codes and you can read live data such as RPM, coolant temp etc then you are down to basics, fuel, spark, timing and compression.
