Occasionally i get a gearbox malfunction error and it scrolls from park to N on the dash and flashes, it seems to do this every 6 months or so and a quick clear on VCDS normally fixes it.
Today it wouldn't clear, tried power cycling and clearing both faults from Engine ECU and Gearbox ECU and it came straight back.
Preformed a calibration on the gear selector which failed because it asked me to move shifter to park and i couldn't because it locked its self due to the fault (power cycling unlocked it but VCDS cancelled due to safety reason)

The fault then auto cleared?! It works normally again, so bizzare

It had the, and I quote, "gearbox oil" changed on 2016-04-29 at 36920 miles then on 2017-10-09 at 70113 miles so how many miles now? It is odd though as by that deception the ATF has not been changed and this is due every 40k so is that a misprint or true? I can't see that it has had the software update 37J8 which MAY be relevant, digging deeper it looks like you may need to fit the revised gear selector unit 0CK 325 110 Q. Personally I would get it on ODIS with Guided Fault finding to find out more information on those two fault codes.

Just dropped it off, They’ve also told me it has a recall for emissions? I asked what it was, he said it’s either a software update or it’s something to do with the EGR and he’d find out and let me know.

Turns out it has a lamba sensor recall which they are ordering and will re-book.

Looking at the invoice it has 2 drain plugs and the oil, no filter quoted? Surely they changed a filter?

Also weirdly they spilt adblu all down the side of the car, I asked why they even touched the adblu and they said “not sure, maybe it was part of the recall checks”

Another quality visit to Preston audi
