Hi, a newbie here. Great site, keep up the good work everyone.

Introductions over, I've recently purchased a 98 GOLF GTI 1.8T. However, it has a problem, well this is the main one. NB: it appears to have had a new turbo recently.

THE PROBLEM: At the point where the turbo spools up, approximately 2000 - 2200 RPM, the vehicle hesitates and loses power. Note that this only occurs when the engine is under load i.e. being driven and appears not to be present when parked.

In an attempt to cure this, I have replaced the plugs, the air flow, checked for vacuum and boost leaks and also had a diagnostic which threw up no codes. Hasten to add the problem remains.

I was wondering if the fault could lie with the DV, maybe its not setup correctly etc. Would this produce the symtoms I'm experiencing, and is their anyway to check the DV for correct operation?

Any help or a point in the right direction would be much appreciated!
    Thanks.

Have you got the standard Bosch divertor valve fitted ?
Uprated ones that are not reciculating cause massive problems on these engines.
