    Hi all, I

have a bit of a problem I am hoping someone can help me with please.

My Mark 4 golf central locking has started to get very intermittent. I have to be right next to it to work in the first place. S

Sometimes it won't lock and today I couldn't unlock it despite the key itself having the red light come on.

I have looked online about finding the manual unlock bit to put my key in, but my car doesn't have one!

I took the silver cover off next to the handle and it's just a black metal block. Would there be one elsewhere? I had to pry that off with a screwdriver, there wasn't a gap to slide the key in like I have seen in some videos.

    Thanks
    Jamie

Your car has been delocked, the only emergency way in is through the tailgate. Have you changed the key in battery and do you have a spare key?

    Thank you for your help.

I tried going in via the boot, the lock turns but it doesn't unlock.

This is worrying so if I am ever locked out, I won't be able to get in manually? I will change the batteries today to be safe. The red button on the key works when I press the button.

Red button on the key, you mean red light?
