    Hi All,

The girlfriend has a 1.4 9n3 with the 80BHP BUD engine fitted and the gearbox has gone. Can't select any forward or reverse gear, the selector on the top of the box is moving OK so I'm guessing something on the output side has given up the ghost as the clutch seems OK, but there is no drive. Gearbox code is JHQ which seems hard to come by on eBay etc. so does anyone know if there is a way to tell if any other gearbox codes are compatible with the BUD engine and the output shafts which would have been originally used with the JHQ box? I don't need a perfect match on ratio's etc. so long as they are fairly close as the car only really does short journeys.

    Many thanks.

With a quick look JFM and LVE are also listed for it. No idea how close they are without further research though. When I needed to replace our GNE some of the close matches had different output shaft arrangements so production dates needed checking.

Fabia and Ibiza also used the JHQ if that helps find one.

Many thanks for the help. I just did a generic search for VW JHQ box, or variations on that theme but I'll try "Skoda" and "Seat" variants too.

    Thanks!
