Hi I have a 2007 Audi A6 C6 3.0 v6 tdi quattro , have had lots of issues re bad starting , poor running , guages to pot (showing hot when cold ) etc . Have sent ECU away and result is it is kna###### , I have obtained a replacement ECU with right part number etc , now need to know what else I will need to change over to make it work . The original is so damaged it is unreadable to transfer all data over . Can my replacement ECU have the immobiliser removed . I have the equipment to code the injectors to the ECU . Any advice welcome . Thanks

Are you sure that the actual flash on the original ECU couldn't be read directly from the chip using JTAG or BDM rigs? It may make things a lot easier.

There are other forums where you can read about making and flashing ECU firmware with immo off. It usually comes as a part of a (potentially poor) performance remap, but you should be able to find someone that would read your flash, disable the immo and put it back.

If you look on eBay you'll see ECU "kits" taken from scrapped vehicles. They'll have ECU, instrument display, keys plus barrel, etc. Just how many of those you can bypass or "black box" recode i don't know.

It will be Immo 4 so it should be possible to use ODIS to code it in, if it was Immo 5 I have found it impossible to get around the VIN based component protection even with a full set of VIN protected parts from a donor car as the original engine ECU was toast and ODIS would not go into ECU changing mode. I know it is expensive but the best way is a new genuine ECU coded in by ODIS. One other point it you need to know why the ECU died as it is not a common problem. The car I recently fought and failed on was a 2011 A4 and it went to some ECU specialist company down south and I never heard if they got it running.

Just thought I would give an update , on stripping car down in order to remove ECU , noticed that upon opening the box what the ECU sits in along with a couple of relays , fuses , etc the box was full of water , so literally everything swimming in water . Drained it out and basically the wiring is acting like it has an open circuit . Now need to work out how damaged the wiring is and also the ECU .

Well it's good to find the cause. Could be hard to repair to reliable condition though. Car cutting out while being driven is not fun.
