    Hi all. Just bought yesterday. Was fine, drove to work this morning, now immobiliser light flashing and won't start. Where do I start trying to rectify..please!

    No, it can't be overridden without major work. You need to get it code read in the instruments to see what is wrong. The usual cause is failure of the reader coil around the lock barrel, do you have two keys?

    Thanks for that. Only one key, unfortunately. It is going again now, after locking and unlocking a few times. The passenger door lock is buggered and needs to ne locked/ unlocked manually..affect it? And if I leave it unlocked in the short term, should stop it reoccurring till I get a fix?!!

    The locks are operated by the central convenience system which also operates from the remote if it has that function and the y in the battery is purely for the radio repote,. The immobiliser system is in the instruments and is operated passively by an induction coil which reads a tiny chip in the base of the key, much like chipping ones cat, which is separate to the remote when fitted. My guess would be a faulty reader coil.
