    Afternoon.

Wonder if anyone could be so kind as to tell me the torque settings for a couple of rear bolts on t'passat? 2012 Estate, 1.6.

A lot of conflicting information, and in most cases no results at all. And no, the dealer was no help!

    1) Rear, lower shock bolt to hub assembly. TTY bolt.

    2) Rear, control arm to hub TTY bolt. (The outer one, not the inner)

    Muchos thanks in advance.

The lower damper bolt is 180Nm and no angle but MUST be replaced, N 910 662 01; the trailing arm bolts are 90 Nm + 45 and one time only N 106 284 01

    That's great Crasher, thank you.

I replace the bolts, yes, and torque them at kerb weight. I pick them up at the ******** and after buying umpteen VW parts now in the last year I finally get a discount!

It seems I've nearly rebuilt this whole car, it's my worky Passat, it didn't stand up too well to three years walloping along Highland A roads and single track. The suspension said "No more"!

    ....and just to confirm,

You mention 'rear trailing arm'. I was meaning the arm which the spring sits into, where one side is for the alignment adjustment, and the other end bolts through the hub. It's the one which bolts through the hub I was wondering about.

To the VAG workshop the "trailing arm" or to the part department, the "axle guide" is the blade from the body to the hub

you mean the "lower wishbone" to the parts department and "Lower transverse arm" to the workshop, aftermarket companies tend to call it "control arm" or "trailing arm". The inner eccentric (tracking) bolt is 95Nm and the outer plain bolt is 90 Nm and then turn 90 further and yes, unladen on the floor or the suspension fixed at ride height.

That's the one, yes, the 'lower wishbone' / 'Lower transverse arm'.

Thanks again for your help, I'll away and button it all up now the rain has subsided a little.

All four corners finished now with Bilsteins, VAG springs, VAG top mounts, Meyle HD drop links, new console bushes, discs, Brembo pads and some juicy Michelin Cross Climates (which are like witchcraft) Four new injectors, glow plugs, a rocker gasket, gearbox mount, battery, fluids and filters and that better well do me for another year or so before this thing bankrupts me!

    Cheers!
