Hi folks, my wife just bought an a6 with some gremlins, namely the MMI, The screen comes on with the Audi logo and the all it shows is the time, the centre controls don’t do anything, no lights, nothing, so I’ve done a little research and already tried a few things like all the fuses, And I got an optical bypass, bypassed all the MMI units 1 at a time and that doesn’t work either, I have since done a scan with launch Xdiag and have found that the cd navigation has an error of some sort, I’m now at the stage where I think I might just replace the navigation unit, would I need to get one with the same part number or can it be different and still work, any other suggestions are more than welcome and thanks in advance.

i am not fully up to speed on this stuff, but did you not by pas the nav control unit?
If you dont want top introduce an anomaly you would need the exact number - and there may be component protection to deal with.

Thanks for the reply mate, I've used the bypass loop and still nothing is working, I presumed that I would have to put the same model sat nav in, I've got vcds coming so I'll wait till I get that and then I'll go from there

    What year is the car?

if it’s a facelift 3G MMI car the the nav unit is the MMI unit.

You need to post up the fault code, this way you may be able to get some help.
