Hi all, advice please. I have just purchased above vehicle..drives well, and in good condition. My only concern is the gearbox, it is slightly noisy..whirry, if thats a word! I had a touring the same age last year sounded similar, and eventually the gearbox gave up completely. Would there be any advantage to changing gearbox oil? Has anyone done this and found it helped! Any advice appreciated, Cheers

Yes those boxes are known for failure, an oil change plus an additive such as Slick 50 won't reduce the noise or prevent failure but won't harm either.

I use RedLine which I think would be their MTLV in that box but there are dozens if not hundreds of excellent brands, it is actually a quite bewildering subject.

Key to this is the cold viscosity this has a massive effect on the quality of shifts , thinner being better determined by the data sheet on any aftermarket oil .

I recently suggested with fantastic feedback this....

Opie oil do Red Line, well almost everyone's oil. The capacity is 2.2 litres from memory so you will need three 0.946 litre bottles.

Thank you, have contacted opie oils. I haven't gone under car yet to see what access is like! Is it quite easy to get into? Should I invest in a syringe to get the new oil in! Cheers

The rain could be 17mm AF or XZN 16 or XZN 16 tamper proof and there is no guarantee the fill is the same as the drain. We use a pump, a funnel and hose for you would be easiest.
