Ok, thanks. So if the drain isn't complete I guess I could measure what comes out, then just add that back in with fresh oil...thats if the level is where it should be! I dont want to bugger it completely by overfilling..I will also need to take the quantity of slick 50 into consideration?!

The way to do it is to fill until it overflows BUT the car must be completely level.

I did wonder if that was the case..I will use a spirit level! O am about to order the red line from opie..they weren't to keen on the slick 50 option. Would it make much difference?

I have used it to great effect for decades. When I spent £2k on parts rebuilding my 02M, I first filled with LV and Slick 50.

Okydoke. Last question...do I put the slick 50 in first, and then just top up with the oil?!

I mix it in with the first pour and shake the hell out of it so it's all mixed and then rinse the little bottle out with some of the next pour, drive it ASAP.

Leave the additive out of it , you need a certain amount of coefficient to 'grip' the syncros , specialist oil blenders with niche products like Fuchs and Millers know what they are doing .

Years ago people thought Slick 50 was good to put in the engine and did so myself in the SR20DET but I looked at the very high viscosity gloop it was and decided to put in only half , glad I did as I went on to read stories of oil filters getting clogged .

Slick 50 engine treatment was not much use, except when my YTS lad left the sump bung loose on the company T2 van (early 80's) and I had to drive 5 miles with no oil pressure and 0 damage. The gearbox treatment is a tiny bottle of PTFE based additive and it works, I used it in my full new build.

So I had a look under the car to see what I am dealing with..there is a regular bolt above the starter which I assume is fill, and on the very bottom of box is what looks like an anti theft lock nut set up..what type of socket do I need for that! I took a photo but can't see a way to upload...advice appreciated .
