My clutch started slipping today, 147K miles on it. I want to stay with a DMF. Now I have a Stage 1 tune. Which clutch would be better, Sachs or LUK or any others?

Thank you, your opinions are very welcome.

    Hi Gazwould,

2002 A4 B6 Saloon, 1.8T AVJ Custome tune by the fellow who did Cossworths. Est 190HP. Jetex exhaust (After Tune). In 3rd gear when the turbo has full boost (3K +/- Rpm) Clutch slips.

Could do with a dyno print out you might have a torque spike but then if it's on the original clutch .

This is the original clutch. The tune was done 3 years ago so I do not believe it is a torque spike. I have done pulls that I did do with VCDS and I have not had any torque spikes. Just an worn out clutch. Just looking for my best bet. I found a Sachs kit with DMF for £328, Luk was 365 for the same. I know LUK is the OEM supplier but their kit is only for the 150 HP. Sachs is also for the 163 HP so a little tighter. I am not a racer (68 Years old) but love to have the power when it is needed. This is the first time I have had slippage. Tried to deglaze the disk but no luck. It is clutch time...

I have no preference between Sachs and LUK, when I did my 6 speed 02M conversion I fitted a four piece LUK kit.

Your car has the 228mm clutch and from experience I know these struggle to cope with a remap so I would consider a solid flywheel (not unpleasant on a 1.8T) conversion with an uprated clutch, I will have to do some research as I see you have sent us an email.

And some also upgrade to the 6 speed 240mm gearbox , then keeping everything stock in the clutch and flywheel department.
