Hi. My OH's 2014 MK5 Polo driver seat is stuck in the forward position on the tracks. Prior to getting stuck it one or twice it stuck and then released itself. The seat would also sometimes move to relocate slightly and click on the left hand side only. In hindsight etc etc.

From the passenger seat, the mechanism looks like a pivoted lever that works to press through and down into the top runner to allow the seat to slide in the track. Whereas the one on the passenger seat has a fair bit of movement, the driver's, stuck seat has less movement. I've managed to break off the plastic handle pulling it up but have another one on order.

Is it likely that something is stopping the thing pressing far enough into the track to release a locking mechanism of some type? I've had a look to see if anything is in the track either stopping the mechanism from moving down far enough or jamming the runners ( It's very hard to see). I've vacuumed the area to try to clear it. My next plan is to try to poke something down the length of the tracks from the front and also the back to see whether there's any difference between the two seats. I'd welcome and advice please. thanks

I've sorted it now thanks. I got a piece of 3mm wire/bar and poked it down the tracks of the passenger side to see how far it went etc. I then poked it down the drivers side and dislodged a small bracket that I remember having put in the car for a job. Somehow it had found its way into the track. Freed and the seat now moves.
