We have in the workshop a 2019 type 4A2 BIG (40 2.0 TDi 204bhp MHEV S tronic) and it has a dull rattle from the left rear over small movement light undulations but large deflections and smooth surfaces are fine. I have been through the TSB's on this, such as ill fitted rear bum stops and springs rubbing on transverse arms and I can't find anything amiss but I can certainly hear the noise my customer (and neighbour!) is hearing as it is very annoying; does this sound familiar to anyone? There have been revisions to the rear subframe, springs and anti roll bar but I can't see how these would cause this rattle.

My rear spring mounts were replaced under warranty due to corrosion. Not sure if that helps.

Funny you should say that, a few weeks ago we did a service on an A6 and noted the mounts were corroded and we replaced them but I don't recall it making a noise although the car in question was showing corrosion to the right mount but the noise was from the left, it's not an expensive job so worth a try.

No rattles from mine, I wouldn't have noticed. We did have a squeak from the front suspension but it disappeared when the guys put it up on the ramp!! He said he noticed the rubber was bulging but couldn't replace under warranty unless they could fins the noise. Hopefully comes back so they can hear it.

Boot lid latch? Lift mechanism/motor? Other stuff inside the boot lid?

I have a small rattle from the light switch in there, but ignore it.
