Hi, bought a used C8 a month ago and I'm very happy with the car. My one and only gripe is either the footrest or the pedal positions. I just can't seem to find a comfortable driving position. I'm not sure whether the angle of the footrest is wrong and maybe the footrest is set too far away or whether it's that the pedals are too far forward....

I know there's probably nothing that I can do about it but just wondering if I'm alone or if there are any potential fixes? Probably not.....

Sure, but that thread relates to the C7. The C8 is much better than the C7 but still not great. Anyway, no worries.

You are not alone. This is of particular annoyance for me.

I have a C8, the first Audi I have owned. I (now) understand pedal position on RHD cars is a common complaint. The peddle positions almost ruin the car. I have given it a lot of thought and I can not rationalise the setup - it's madness.

I would argue the rest is in the correct position, but the peddles are approximately 40~50mm too close.

I am 6ft with 34" leg. In all previous cars I've owned or driven, I have never had any need to move the steering wheel closer to me. The only way I can get reasonably comfortable in the C8 is to move the seat a long way back, and subsequently the steering wheel out by very nearly all of it's travel. This means I can barely reach the main touchscreen, and leg space is tight for a passenger sitting behind me. Moving both the seat and steering wheel, more than you think normal, is my suggestion to you.

I have also tried moving the rest position by attaching a (high density) foam block onto the rest, to bring the rest inline with the accelerator, but in the end I left it off.

As a designer products myself, I find this all incredibly illogical and frustrating.

Strangely enough, and I'm not sure why it is, some don't notice it at all. I can't see how they don't notice it myself because it's an awful set up.

I also tried the old trick of adding a block of wood to the footrest to bring it more in line with the accelerator pedal but I gave up on that as well. How on earth could a high value car require a block of wood stuck to the footrest.....

The brake pedal is out of line with the accelerator pedal as well.....

It's such a pity that they don't give a damn about driver ergonomics because I really like the test of the car.

I'll try your suggestion on the seat position anyway.

I don't think the brake and accelerator should be perfectly inline, but on an Audi the offset is excessive. As I understand it, this was increased due to a death and lawsuit in the US. The driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake when making an emergency stop. This excessive offset is certainly part of the issue, compounded by the pedals too close to the driver.

It's a pity the pedals can't be adjusted to sit further back. I can't fathom how such a crap set up ever got approved.....I honestly don't think it would have been a massive engineering task to ensure the pedal set up was better. I was driving my wife's (horrific) Hyundai IX35 yesterday and the set up was a million times better than my A6.
