I think anyway, 2003 A4 cab, moved the car earlier then set off later for work, when i pulled away the car creaked as though the handbrake was still on, or partly on. the handbrake itself as fully down. Drove to work OK (10 miles), pulled the handbrake up to get out and only seemed to go up about 1/3 the height it usually goes up.

Car doesnt feel like it sticking, or stuck on, but i cant be sure. Any ideas guys? Or anything I can check?

Any of the wheels showing signs of excessive radiated heat? Don't touch a disc or wheel if you think it may be hot.

    Hi Crasher

just laid under it and sprayed up the handbrake mechanism on the rear callipers, put handbrake on several times and now it’s coming up to normal height. The rear wheels spin a little (got nothing to compare it to). Rear R/H side calliper looks as though it’s been hot, slightly whitish colouring?

Yes, if we have the lead time we order TRW new units (or exchange if that is all they offer) but they take about a week to arrive.

I had a damaged cable sheath a while back, corrosion then caused the cable to resist the force of the springs that pulls caliper arm back to position slightly different symptoms but no harm in looking at that cable too.
