Howdy.

I drive an 06 Golf Plus SE at the moment and does not have roof rails so I got some OEM roof bars.

I have however bought them 2nd hand on a hunch trusting they will fit my Plus when I knew all along they came from a MK5 (1K0 071 126) and the one I should have got in theory is 5M0 071 126a.

I haven't played enough with them just yet but enough to tell that my Golf does not have a grommet and a hole to slide the pins of the front bars in the roof frame. I watched a few videos of people fitting this in MK5s, MK6s and MK7s and the all have the hole!

I can see the dots on the frame so I am wondering two things.

1) Could the golf plus bars which look identical in design and appearance not have the pins on the front rails and rely on a somewhat different way of fixing the potential lateral displacement?

2) is it perhaps that this is expected to be a dealer job and they drill a hole and screw in a a female screws where the dot is. (or just a hole?)

If anyone was in this boat before I'd be very grateful to know more about this!

Cheers!
