Hi I want to convert my tdi Allroad from airbags to steel springs as I'm fed up and over it.
Has been parked up for 6 years. -front stays down still after replacing bad airbag with cheap China bag and did bagpipe Andy's piston ring.
Had trouble reading fault codes, tried wifi obd2 ELM327 with a IOS app with VAG menu and 2 android apps with VAG support no codes at all.
Brought Konnwei KW350 that did find codes but nothing (air) suspension.

So now suspect dead or faulty ride height control ecu.

Sick of playing "whack a mole" with air suspension system.

I also want to spend least amount of coin on it

At a local self pull parts yard theres a A6 V8 4.2, I want to know if I can install the front struts (including hats) in the Allroad, don't give a f about ride height as long as its drivable.

Confused as I can't find a straight answer from forums and everything I come across is about coil over conversions anyway.
Found a forum post saying you need lower arms if using stock A6 struts as Allroad lower arm are different but then I found another post, a guy installed A6 coil overs and using new A6 hats without changing anything else, he didn't bother drilling out the original Allroad hats which be also my plan.

Rear steel sprung coil struts seem to be bolt in, I may install rear stock A6 or screw around the Allroad bags converting to old school air shock lines and tyre type fill valve, swapping out the front is my immediate concern then sell all the parts, the already installed on strut cheap air bag, another front bag still in box, air pump etc to some poor sucker.
