Diesel additives

I have a 2002 A6 Avant (C5) with 2.5 TDI -- mileage = 185K.

Is it safe or wise to use an additive (e.g. Diesel Extreme) as I'm seeing mixed opinions regarding this?

I did clean three injectors last year when having to replace one (driver's side) and they had a bit of carbon on them but not excessive considering the mileage (I've had the car from nearly new and they'd never been cleaned).

Would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks for the reply. So are you suggesting either/any of these and I'm assuming that no damage will occur to an old engine?

8 years of 2T on a high mileage 19 year old 1.9 PD , it halved my MOT smoke opacity from 2.00 to 1.00 , then a new thermostat lowered it below 0.60 for the May 2018 regs then more recently added some 2-EHN and now she's a 0.21 fast pass one acceration blower .

Gazwould blend 200ml 2T + 40ml 2-EHN easily dispensed in premade mix in used Redex bottles .

Redex Diesel cleaner now and then when on offer £2 a bottle that does 2 tanks .
