    Hi there
    I have A3 8P1 2009 1.9Tdi BLS engine
I have an odd problem and I was hoping that somebody will have had this issue or will point me in the right direction.
Upon plugging into my OBD port there is no communication with any modules. Power found at OBD port, and grounds. All fuses are O.K

I have plugged in my OBD (Maxicue) and I have found this but do not know what the codes mean.

All the faults there are shown as intermittent except the boot lamp which might just be a blown bulb or fuse.

The main fault to concentrate on is 30A intermittent.

30 is the main 12v feed from the battery to various fuses on the fuse boards, it is always live even with the ignition off.
That is showing intermittent, so would guess you have a poor connection on that feed wire somewhere.

When you couldn't read any module on your first post, would the engine start?

    Hi there Philip
Many thanks for contributing to my thread.
    In answer to your response
Yes the car will always start.
The subject of "30 is the main 12v feed from the battery" seems like a likely candidate to my OBD image, I will address this immediately after the "boot lamp"
With reference to the boot lamp I have stripped out all the boot lining only to find the wires supposedly supplying the unit is not there, i.e. only cable a boot lamp plug nothing else, and as far as I can see there is no damage to the wiring

    Regarding the boot lamp.

Can only suggest you try wiring a suitable bulb to the boot light connector & see if that clears the fault code.

    Best of luck.

Has it not occurred that your codes are red herrings. yes you will always get a permanent 12v feed which feeds the main engine control relay which controls approx 6/7 components & fuses

    Hi there
I stripped out the boot lining only to find that there is no boot lamp module and from what i can see there is no damage to the cabling.
I will now test this with my digital multi meter
Afterwards I will connect it to a spare 12v bulb holder

I am now in the process of stripping out various items in the battery area and cleaning their connections as seen in the three images

    Hi there Phillip
I took your advice ; from the battery I stripped out all the Positive & Negative connection's all the way back to the alternator, the only connection that I did not strip out was the 30a feed from under bonnet fuse board (although I did clean the ring terminal) to the supplementary fuse board in the cabin, (sorry I missed out this important bit every ring terminal was cleaned with a wire brush)
I did another scan and I did not find any faults.
As regards the boot lamp I will venture outside after the storms etc.

    Many thanks for all contributions.
The problem is now fixed after the strip out as detailed above.
