Activating wireless Apple CarPlay 2029 A6 Avant

I was pretty disappointed to find that my 2019 A6 SLine Avant didn't come with wireless Apple CarPlay from the factory, and even more so once the salesman told me it was only available on later models.
Well, this morning, I've sorted it out.
If you've got a HEX-V2 VCDS cable and a few minutes, it is simply a case of following these steps and you should be good to go.

It's worth noting that my car is a UK car, running Firmware P2711.

Open VCDS
5F
Adaption
Long coding
Vehicle config
* Mirror link ON
* Wi-Fi client HMI ON
* WLAN 5ghz switch ACTIVATE
* Apple DIO wireless ACTIVATE
Once I'd made these changes, I made my phone 'forget' the car in Bluetooth settings, and re-paired it. A quick reset of the MMI (pressing the volume button in for 15 seconds), and hey presto.

After that, Apple CarPlay comes up on the main menu, rather than 'Phone Apps'.

I hope this helps someone. I'm absolutely not an expert at this, but it's worked for me.

Nothing at all, Enrico.
I made sure to restart the MMI by holding the volume knob in until the system restarted, then re-paired my phone. It asked me if I’d like to use CarPlay, and everything has worked fine since.

Same for me but I have now an error on the 5F module: Incorrect SW Version. I don't understand why.

Hope you don't mind but I have made this a sticky. We need a sticky for software / VCDS changes for the C8 albeit limited in what is possible so far!

About the SW problem.... It seems that after an upgrade FW or maps(to be verified for this) it's necessary to change a code in a particular channel of the adaptation of the 5F. I've changed this code by a simple calculation and the error has been cleared.
