    Hi guys, new here so welcome.

    Engine management light has come on for the EGR - Insufficient flow

    I’ve tried using EGR cleaner spraying directly into the air intake but hasn’t cleared it. I’m going to get the EGR replaced.

    My questions - my code reader is also showing circuit open for glow plug 1,3 and 4. Does anyone know which glow plug has the sensor? And once the EGR is replaced would the glow plugs on their own cause the engine management light to stay on? (I’m looking to sell the car) car starts perfectly so would rather not mess about with the glow plugs

    Any advice would be great

    Which engine code and year, no type 3C or 36 uses pressure sensing glow plugs which did not come in until the type 3G

    It’s a 2008 2L diesel TDI 140

    I’m not sure on the engine code.. where do I find that?

    BKP… and it is still running! The glow plugs are inside the cam cover and are not pressure sensed.

    I bought it only a few weeks ago, planned to go get some work done and sell it on

    Check the EGR pipe to the EGR valve, it may well be full of black crud greatly reducing the EGR gas flow.

    Do a search for "BKP balancer shaft failure", utter nightmare in its heyday.
