On three occasions over the last month the EPC light has appeared on my Golf Mk7 petrol, manual. Once the light stayed on for duration of the 20 minute drive but on the other two occasions, the light went out after I turned the engine off then immediately back on. There is no loss of power, no rattles and no obvious issue.

Comments from other posters suggest a wide of possible causes including throttle body, ABS brake switch, turbo wastegate valve to name a few.

Multiple VCDS scans show no fault codes except for codes 539925 (Address 09 - Cent.Electrics) and 1048578 (Address 17 - Instruments) both of which show no data
or suggest an update from HEX+CAN Dual-K to latest version for Extended UDS is required.

Any tips on how I can narrow the fault down or make progress would be helpful.

If the EPC light comes on that it HAS TO leave a fault code, I have never known it not to.

Your scan is showing " suggest an update from HEX+CAN Dual-K to latest version for Extended UDS is required. "

I think you need to get it scanned with the latest version of VCDS.
The older cables aren't capable of showing all the faults.

Thanks to Crasher, Uwe and phillippharmes for comments.

Although no fault codes appeared on previous scans, a new scan today reported fault 19404 / P2263 pointing to the Turbo/Super Charger Boost System. I am now on the case. There are many comments and tips on this issue.
