Error Codes - 18041 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185)

Hi got the follow error codes after an autoscan with VCDS.

There seems to be a problem with the accelerator position sensor, EPC light is coming on and car goes into limp home mode, code tends to go when car is stopped and ignition on and

off again.

Also got an issue with a rear brake bulb on central electrics module and electrical issue on ABS brakes module.

18041 - Accelerator Position Sensor 2 (G185)
P1633 - 002 - Signal too Low

00668 - Supply Voltage Terminal 30
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent

00988 - Lamp for Brake Light; Right (M10)
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent

Let me know who to resolve this issues if anyone has any experience with these codes.

If you keep getting the G185 error, fit the new revised from 2010 pedal 1K2 721 503 AJ it is a five minute job but £148.61, the Hella 6PV 011 040-711 is a third of this. The voltage issue is pretty obvious but your early cable is letting you down here by not showing the voltage. Check the correct bulb is fitted, often we see single filament 382 bulbs used where a twin filament 380 should be used.

What cable should I be upgrading to for VCDS? I guess there will be a charge for this from Ross Tech?

If I had the newer cable I would be able to see the voltages?

Should I just get another pedal or should I check first with upgraded VCDS?

I shall double check what bulb I have fitted. So for the brake light it should be twin filament 382?

The HEX NET interface shows the start and finish voltages on suitable cars at the end of the scan and lots of ROD data, someone like you needs to set themselves up with the HEX-NET pro, I get mine from Home - Marshalls Industrial

In mean time I’ve now got the CEL on now so need to do
another scan and post here

Should I be checking the wiring from the pedal to ECU (prior to buying a replacement throttle pedal?). Think I’ve got the wiring diagram you sent me a while back when I had an issue with the wiring from the throttle body to the ECU.

Hopefully the overlay harness I did from the 6 pin connector from the throttle body to the Ecu plug isn’t causing an issue or has failed also?

Now getting this code......same number 18041 but intermittent now....

This still meaning the throttle pedal is failing / needs replacing?

I did check measuring blocks and all the values for pedal position and throttle all look stable and ok.....

Can't see any values jumping around? Just trying to understand where the computer is picking up the fault from?

Did have EPC and CEL on, now just got the CEL.....

The pedal sensor on your engine car works on 2 track system thats why their is 2 earths. 2x 5v feeds & 2 return wires to the ecu. Check pedal with plug disconnected ign on you should have 2 5v feeds at terminals 1 & 2. the 2 earths terminals are 3 & 5. The 2 signal return wires to the ecu are 4 & 6.I will post you up the corresponding ecu pin nos & wire colours later if required

Ive attached what I think is the correct wiring diagram but my German isn’t the best. I think the accelerator pedal to Ecu is shown on the bottom left hand corner.
