    Hi
I have a 2014 B7 2.0 Diesel Estate with CFFB engine and I notice that sometimes after short runs even in cold weather, the cooling fans are running when I stop even though the radiator is cold to touch. After a few minutes they switch off. This will happen two or three times and then not happen again for a few weeks
The engine temperature guage doesn't go above 90 and I get no warning lights. I have a basic code reader and there are no errors showing.
My simple old fashioned car knowledge suggests that the thermostat is getting stuck shut but I recognise things are more complicated these days.
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?
    Thanks

Ignore the dash gauge unless it is anything other than 90, they read 90 at a real 77 and still read 90 at a real 116 then suddenly shoot up, the idea is to stop people fretting over the minutia of the reading but it causes more problems than it solves. I would suspect the engines computer is trying to do a regeneration of the DPF but a fault code read could be a good idea plus reading off the DPF's soot and ash readings to see if a forced regeneration would be of benefit.

The reason will be that you have turned off the engine while it is in the middle of a regen of the DPF.

I've got the same engine in a Superb & it has happened on a couple of occasions.

It's a problem when the car only does short journeys & can't complete the regen in one journey.

Once it's completed a regen it will be fine for the next few hundred miles.
