Drivers door not opening from outside

Has anybody else experienced this? The door opens fine from the inside, but is virtually impossible to open from outside. I had the door card off today and everything seemed to be moving as it should which is odd. Any tips would be appreciated - it's becoming slightly annoying having to climb over the passenger seat every time I want to go anywhere!

I would expect it to be the lock module

I have in the dim and distant past have problems with wear in the handle unit with it not operating the door lock unit sufficiently and to test this you take both out and check them on the bench where the problem should be apparent. If it is in the handle the repair kit (Audi number 4B0 898 105) used to deal with this is obsolete as is the handle but the lock unit 402 837 016 is still available at £197.16 but I do seem to remember it was the handle being the problem. The handle and the repair kit are both stocked by Audi Tradition in Germany but not only are they offline until next year, the won't send to the UK because they can't cope with Brexit, even tough they sell to other non EU countries all over the planet! The repair kit is available on fleaBay but I seem to remember this not being successful.
