Hi my MIL light came on my 1.5 TSI R line,
The car is a Bluemotion tech DACA engine.

I had work done earlier today before engine MIL came in albeit this was after a 100 mile round trip inc highways.

I had a decat reversed by having a exhaust specialist reinstall my OEM downpipe with OEM Cats and had the original map restored, including removal of the CAT delete map. They then reinstalled a performance eco map which took into account the CAT’s being present.

Following a long drive with no issues the engine MiL came on. Initially I thought it may be Oxygen sensor or CAT related, however VCDS shows the code P05A0 Active radiator shutter open stuck. I have read some posts that mainly relate to US Jetta’s which had defunct shutter motors, these were mainly 2016 cars which the technical service bulletins recommended that vehicles which had the older part no needed the flap motor to be superseded by an improved motor with later part no ending in ‘H’ or more recent ones ‘AA’. Mine being a late 2018 should have the later revised part no.

I also read a technical bulletin that states that if this issue occurred on vehicles with later part no’s that it’s not the motor that’s faulty, but a software issue and a dealer software update rectified the issue ?

    1. Can someone confirm this is the case ?

    2. or is there a way of using adaptations on VCDS to code it out ?

I raise the latter question because I’m guessing that when the tuner reflashed my map, he may have removed the flap motor bypass coding unwittingly. Those of you who are familiar with the car, will know that the previous owner replaced full front end to Golf R bumpers (along with rest of R exterior updates) and may have had this issue before or not bothered connecting it up properly ? and hence had the coding bypass done ?

If there is a way of using VCDS to code it out any how to guides would be much appreciated. (I can’t be bothered to rip off bumper and all ancillaries to check whether it’s connected up for a gimmick that will have little real world gains on efficiency) I’ll visually check but it’s impossible to see really without starting to strip off engine cover and bumper grills by and to replace faulty parts is a strip down and I ain’t adept enough to undertake that task.
