    Hi folks

My 2006 A3 has barely given me any problems over 8 years.

A few months ago though, my rear wiper stopped spraying water, but still wipes.

Over the last couple of days, my alarm has been going off erratically.

My keyfob battery is low, so I've ordered a replacement CR2032.

I've read that these can be connected, but couldn't see the boot symbol when the alarm went off.

Can I disconnect my main car battery in the meantime to stop the alarm going off, while I wait on my motor engineer picking the car up?

    Thanks,

    vulpi

The washer jet drips salt laden screen wash onto the boot lock micro switch. What can also happen is when the tailgate is opened, water runs into the wiring tubes, into the roof and then down the C pillars and causes all sorts of problems.

Thanks for your response Crasher. I'll pass your information onto my motor engineer to investigate.

In the meantime, I wanted to stop bothering my neighbours with the alarm going off, so I've removed the fuse rather than disconnecting the battery.
