Exhaust replacement query: 2013 C7 2.0 TDI

Driving the car this morning and sounds like the exhaust has started to go/stated blowing. Eight years old.. c99,000 miles.

Any general comments feedback on most preferred replacement route?

Not usually a fan of the ‘usual’ exhaust/tyre vendors for repair work etc.. but at my current lifecycle with this car would preferably go with most cost effective option; this replacement exhaust would see me out with regards this particular vehicle ( will be scoping a new C8 in 2022 I think)

Any help/advice/comments on best suppliers… Indicative costs.. would be gratefully received. Cheers.

I watch a Youtube channel about an Audi Master tech (now working somewhere else) it seems that almost all Audi's now come with an exhaust sleeve midway down the exhaust, its common for those to break and apparently are cheap to replace and defo a DIY job. Might be worth checking that first as I think the exhausts are stainless on diesels.

I was thinking it was a potentially bit soon for the exhaust to being showing signs of failure.

Not totally sure on it being a diy job and also the linked concern about getting others to investigate/diagnose this. Good info tho; shall investigate.

I doubt it will be more than the sleeve Kev mentioned or a flex coupling, the longevity of modern VAG exhaust systems is unbelievable to someone of my generation, the sleeve is part number 1K0 2251 141 M and is £21.72 + VAT but if it is the downpipe flexi that is a lot more and there are two versions

Thanks for the detail on options and likely costs Crasher. Is that a correct cost for (only) a clamp… seems a lot to me.. (!?). Checked out a coupe of YouTube videos.. and the failing clamp issue does look simpler etc..

Would you say this is a trusted Independant type job.. rather than an national exhaust fitter etc. (silly question maybe)

Well it is fancy "dual clip" but it would help if I pressed the shift button for £ and not 3... £21.72

If it’s the joint half way along towards the back of the car and you can jack up and put on axil stands the. It takes about 10 mins.

Mine was showing signs of rot so I got it replaced.
