Audi A8 (2008) 3.0 TDI - MMI Bluetooth for Audio

Hi everyone, please could someone help with advice on bluetooth audio connection through MMI, I can connect my phone to the car and receive and make phone calls using the MMI, but I don't have the option to select my handset for playing audio. Please could you let me know if there is an option to enable this through the MMI or is there an aftermarket adaptor so this can be added? I have the 6 cd changer in the glovebox, with Bose speakers. Thanks.

Four options:

1. Install an Audi Music Interface in the glovebox and install a BT adapter therein.
2. Mr12Volt MOST BT adapter that makes it appear as CD 12 and the pause FF, RW works with the MMI controls as does the track name.
I have it and it is quite good but a tiny bit ropey but at least the Audio is still optical..
3. Enable AUX in for which a TV Tuner is needed as a pre-requisite but the input is phono and prone to alternator whine.
4. I am confident but not certain there is AV in on the BOSE amp/DSP but have no details.

Hi Snapdragon, thanks for detailing the various options available, if I was to go down the route of option 1, would I need to have a VCDS to recode to my car or would this be a plug and play? Thanks.

I bought an AMI unit for mine (ebay). I replaced the 6 CD player in the glove box.
Bought a USB cable for the AMI and plug in a memory stick with my music on it.

All comtrollable with the MMI and display.

Oh, because I replaced the CD, I didn’t need any extra optical cables as the AMI uses the existing ones.
No need for VCDS neither, it saw it straightaway.

Biggest barrier to entry for the AMI is the price! I also *think* the BT adapter is third party and not official but others/google may confirm. Note that the AMI is a CD changer sized box, don't just see the AMI cables for sale and think you only need one of those!
