Was driving the Golf (Life with standard LED headlights) the other evening, I am not the usual driver, and thought the headlight range on dipped beam was pretty poor. Did some searching on the Internet and it seems to be common issue for VWs and how they leave the factory. There is an easy fix. On the top of each headlight is a white plastic screw that needs a 5mm Allen key, circled on photo. I did the recommended 2 full turns anti clockwise and the problem is solved. Hope this helpful to others

It raises the dip beam height and therefore gives better lit range. Issue is that the cars leave the factory with the beam set too low which limits visibility driving on dipped beam lights on roads without street lights.

The lights are dipped for a reason. The alignment should be checked with the proper equipment or it may be too high.
