    Hi

I'm on my second Q7 now.. purchased in April. My previous Q7 went to 16k without needing a service, this one is on 8k and is saying oil change due soon.

I do good runs, motorway... not much about town, it's a diesel. I'm surprised to see it's set at fixed servicing, is this the norm now?

Anyone know how I go about getting this changed to flexible?

    Thanks!

Congrats on car. my understanding is that for cars with regular short journeys they should be on Fixed intervals which is 9k miles or every 1 year, and for cars mostly on motorways they can be on flexible interval which is 18k miles or every 2 years (without giving Audi any excuse to reject your warranty claims). It is just a setting the dealer can set on the car. I asked to be put on Fixed plan as I fit the first category anyways, and I believe more regular oil changes would only do good to the engine (well, admittedly it hurts the wallet a bit).. maybe I've been brainwashed to hand out my money unnecessarily but I wouldn't be comfortable with the car not having an oil change for 2 years.

No I agree, long life service intervals are a terrible idea, the number of engine I know of that have been ruined by it is ridiculous, including my car which I bought at four years old with a destroyed engine and turbo; mind you I got a good cheap car at someone else's expense...
