I was driving while my serpentine belt failed and shredded. I replaced the serpentine belt the next day thinking nothing more of it, Only to have the engine oil light come on shortly after. Topped it up and then half an hour later the oil light came back on. Checking the underside of the car there is a lot of oil on the drive belt side below the crank pulley area as well as a puddle of oil on the floor. Can someone help me understand what has gone wrong here? I have stopped driving it until it is sorted.

Parts of the poly V belt can get drawn into the timing belt area and rip the front crank oil seal open, at least you get an oil leak but at worst the timing belt gets clogged up, fails and destroys the engine.
