Hi everyone, my 2014 A8 4.2Tdi takes ages to get to running temperature. Today it took 34 miles, at Motorway speeds, to reach 90 degrees on the gauge. Ambient was 5 degrees.
If I wanted to change the Thermostat, how big a job is that and how long should it take?
    Cheers
    Pat

We always fit the full multiply revised part 057 121 011 R which is £217.09, they are not too evil to do being down in the lower left corner at the front of the engine, they take about four hours including bleeding which is slow and boring.
A petition has been started to allow the use of synthetic fuels when they become available, this may allow the continued sale of ICE vehicles post 2030 and the use of classic vehicles well into the future… Their use may even be able to rival electric vehicles given the chance. Please sign this petition IF you feel the infernal combustion engine has a future if sustainable fuels are made available

Have you replaced the temperature sender units first?

The sender unit appears to be working correctly. The heater does not get warm for at least 15 miles and not hot for another 15.

What would be the total cost to do the job?
