    Hi,

Following on from a previous post about a previous issue RE turbo which has been fixed I have had another issue with this car today

Car has been running perfectly- went to the local shop and on the way engine cut off had a brief message saying LOW OIL PRESSURE STOP ENGINE. cranked the car couple of times and has not started.

Checked the oil level which seems fine but broke down on a steep hill going downhill so don't know whether oil level is accurate.

rolled the car onto the pavement and left it there- hopefully with some luck someone will rear-end it as I'm losing my s**t with it. will be going back to the car shortly to get the AA out as had to get back to work,

Car has done 114k miles, recently had a brand new turbo fitted, new oil feed pipe, new oil filter and was told intercooler pipes etc were cleaned?? could my current issue be related to this or is this something completely different.

any advice will be greatly appreciated (help @Crasher)

I would check the oil on level ground first.....

check for leaks (especially in areas where work has been done recently).

after that do a diagnostics and get any fault codes.....you may have a bad sensor etc....

then also do mechanical checks.....check oil pressure, check condition of oil pump.....is the belt or chain that drives it ok?

i don’t know the BKD engine so not sure if belt or chain driven.....but guessing it has an oil pump that is driven from the crank....

    Hi thanks for the reply.
Currently waiting for the AA to come. Visually no oil leaking underneath. Wont be able check oil on flat surface as cannot move it.
I have plugged it in to software and i got a code
    00003 - control module
    014-defective
Dont know whether that has anything to do with it

The oil pump drive is made from a hollow metal allen key drive and always rounds off and the first casualty is the turbo.

Had the AA out..well the AA sent a 3rd party Johm Mcadam tech out who said..either oil pressure sensor or oil pump.

He couldnt tow me as didnt have the towing equipment on his vehicle, which defeats the whole point of coming. Have to wait another 2 hours for another vehicle.

I hope this doesnt effect my turbo. Its brand new only fitted less than 6weeks ago

A turbo spins at about 250000 revolutions a minute on full boost, about 5000 a second, so if there is no oil pressure then there will be no turbo. The turbo is also a long way from the oil pump ... Turbo's need good air flow , good oil pressure and good quality oil. No1 reason for turbo failure is lack of oil pressure.

Here's the drive that I replaced with a solid chrome vanadium version and had re machined on a VW Passat same engine as yours.

I will take a picture tomorrow of a worn hex drive. I have a fair few lying around the workshop.

I'm in Bedford bud, sump off, balancer off, gear removed, sent away to engineer, he machines a new key way in the gear, comes back to me with a new oil pump drive in chrome vanadium. Which should last forever. Cost is about £500 all in with a new oil and filter fitted.
