Hi, Please could someone give me some advice how to fix the MMI screen to open and close as the screen is fixed in the open position, if I press the open and close button the display will switch on and off, but not close, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best advice, would be to look on you tube for fixes.
it usually involves A LOT of dash/fascia trim removal to get to the mechanism.

    sorry!

It is a lot of work to replace and the part, 4E0 857 273 F, is £512.88 PLUS I have had two new ones fail within weeks and then have to go to Audi for warranty under the TPS rules where the dealer gets arsy because they didn't sell the part.

Hi, as the unit seems to keep failing is there an alternative screen that this could be replaced with from a reputable manufacture or a static fixed screen so it doesn't stress the unit from using the mechanism of opening and closing? Thanks.

You can buy repair kits on ebay and aliexpress, but does yours sound as though it is trying to move? The repair kits are new cogwheels to replace the stripped ones.

Hi Snapdragon, there is no sound at all from behind the display. I think that it has been disconnected some way so that it prevents the display from from rotation. The display displays everything and can be switched on and off, but no mechanism works when key is removed, which may not be a bad thing as it seems the mechanism is problematic anyway and at least it all works, for now anyway
