Bit of an unusual one here. The rear window failed on my B6 recently which turned out to have been caused by the plastic gear which goes between the part the the window winder attachs to and another similar cog in the regulator. I've hunted high and low and can't find this part for sale anywhere.

Does anyone have any idead where I might be able to source one?

You won't find one, you need a new regulator unit which is £102.86 retail inc. VAT from any Audi dealer.

Thanks for letting me know and saving me from wasting any more of my time A length of 2x1 in the door to hold the window up it is then - I'm not spending over a tonne for a plastic cog!

You had better not buy a 2.5 T5 then, these have a metal cog which drives the alternator, if it fails you can’t buy it, you have to replace the engine…

No thanks. I'll stick to my 1.9 PDs - much easier on the pocket!

For anyone else that finds themselves in this situation, the part number you need is 8E0839402A This is the platic/metal assembly which contains the gear. Loads available on the bay for around a tenner
