Two punchers in the same tire in the same week, very painful and they can only be repaired twice so hoping 3 is not a charm. However the good people at Kwikfit advises fronts are at 3mm after 12k ish, anyone seeing similar or different wear?

Unlucky. On my C8 40TDi I only got about 15k miles out of the front tyres (Bridgestones) so with the greater performance and heavier weight of the S6 I am not unduly surprised you are down to 3mm after 12k miles. That said I am certain that KwikFit use a different ruler to everyone else when it comes to tyre wear as the staff are heavily incentivised to upsell at every opportunity

I got 25k from my tyres - Michelin PS4. At the first service, Audi said I required 4 new tyres as they were near 2mm. It was back into Audi for the rattling dash about 2 months later and the tyres were now at 3 and 4mm!! I do mostly longer distances - not much town driving.
Current- A6 C8 40 tdi quattro s line Daytona Grey
    Gone-S3 sportback, A6 C7 biturbo saloon,A4 B 8.5 avant, A6 C6 3.0 tdi Quattro saloon, A6 C5 2.8 Q Avant

Good point most of my driving is town and A and B roads, not too much motorway so inevitably gives the tyres a harder time
