I currently own a VW Golf MK6 GT 2.0 TDI on a 61 plate; and have done so since 2015 (purchased when it was 3 yrs old). Up until 100k, the car was faultless bar the EGR, but this was covered by the VW Trust Building Measures following the software fix (which I have since reversed). However, since 100k (2021), big bills have come my way. So far I have spent in the region on £1.4k on the following:

    • Front shockers
    • Front springs
    • Front links
    • Brake hose
    • Lower engine mount
    • Rear control arms
    • Rear springs
    • Rear links

The car has now developed a knock which has been diagnosed as front control arm front bushes (so replacing entire arms) and Anti Roll / Sway Bar (inc bushes). Quoted £560 all in. Then next February, the Timing Belt and Water Pump is due to the tune of £350-£400.
So in 12 months, total spend will be £2k+. The car is currently worth £3.5k at trade in / px price. As it stands, would you advise to replace the car or get the work done? If I was to buy a new car, total budget would be circa £10k.
    Cheers.
Edit: Car mechanically is sound. Sweet engine which has been serviced every 5k miles since 38k. Gearbox is slightly noisy in 2nd gear, but relative to age/mileage I would say.
